Personality Bio
  • The Mighty Peanut started in radio in 1973
“It just happened by chance,” recalls Peanut.  “I had always been interested in
Radio.  I was hanging out at the station learning as much as I could and before I
knew it, I was on the air.”That chance has turned into a 37-year career in Augusta radio.

In August 1993, The Mighty Peanut was recognized by the radio industry in
Atlanta with the Ed Cook Award for community service.  This award is given by
Record company representatives for outstanding work with local schools and
    Community projects.

The Mighty Peanut’s longest running gig is “SOLID GOLD SUNDAY”.  He begun
the air show in 1980 on Sunday, Peanut takes a look back at the music that pioneered today’s sound-music that made us move.  The show was rated as the number one weekend show by the Augusta Chronicle’s “Jockeying for Votes” promotion.

Peanut is currently working at 963 Kiss FM “Today’s R&B and Old School”.
963 Kiss FM is part of a cluster of Clear Channel Communications radio stations with formats that include Gospel, Classic Rock, Hip Hop and Adult Contemporary.

The station change he made in July 2000, Peanut say, “I moved to 963 Kiss FM Radio Station for growth”.  “I love meeting and interacting with my coworkers and the other on-air personalities”.

In August of 2000, Peanut was awarded the Blues Legends Award in Atlanta, Georgia. This award is in recognition of the many years of service in the Rhythm & Blues industry.

Peanut got his nickname as a young man while playing basketball for T.W. Josey High School. “They started calling me ‘peanut’ and the nickname stuck.”  The “Mighty” was added to Peanut for radio flair.

“I have been very fortunate and blessed throughout my career,”exclaims .Peanut.  The Mighty Peanut has a “Who’s Who” list of performers he has met and/or interviewed –legends including,Luther Vandross,Barry White, Glady Knight,Eddie Levert, B.B.King ,Frankie Beverly,Patti LaBelle,Chaka Kahn,Gerald Levert,James Brown, Blue Lovett & Gerald Alston of the Manhattans,Keith Sweat,Anita Baker, Faith Evans, Otis Williams of the Temptation’s, Freddie Jackson, Johnnie Taylor, Mel Waiters, Denise LaSalle, Millie Jackson, just to name a few.

“I remember often what my mentor Barry White told me about the music, why he continue to do it.  Barry said, “Love it first – always give it your best, and you’ll succeed.”  That was the same advice he extended to me about the Radio business.  That advice is well taken, “I love the Radio business, I always give it my best and so far I have succeeded in it”.  The same advice can be used in any profession.
