Cissy Houston says she'll do what she's gotta do to protect her family. The long suffering mother of the late Whitney Houston is withholding the inheritance money from her granddaughter Bobbi Kris. She feels Bobbi Kris is surrounded by negative influences and will run through the cash. Cissy is also not happy with BeBe Winans. She is mad at him for writing a book about his friendship with Whitney. Cissy is writing her own book about her famous daughter that is coming out in February of next year. In other Whitney Houston news, get ready for tributes to her this fall. First up, the 18-track tribute album, I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston, comes out November 13^th. The coffee table book, Whitney: Tribute To An Icon, comes out November 27^th. The Lifetime network presents their TV special remembering Whitney Houston, which will feature home videos and interviews with mom Cissy Houston, brother Gary, daughter Bobbi Kris and sister-in-law Pat Houston. On October 24^th, the Houston's reality show, On Our Own debuts on Lifetime. On November 16^th, it’s a Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston, with Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Usher Yolanda Adams and CeCe Winans that will air on CBS.

Was the Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey feud just a publicity stunt? According to Mariah's husband, Nick Cannon, it was. American Idol Judges Nicki and Mariah had a public feud where Nicki threatened to shoot Mariah on the audition set of Idol. Has the show come to this? American Idol used to be about the talent. Now the focus is on the judges, but the producers still love this kind of publicity for their show.

Janet Jackson is tired of the executors of the Michael Jackson estate trying to muddy her name. Michael is profiled in the new book Untouchable: The Strange Life And Tragic Death Of Michael Jackson by Randy Sullivan. The book claims Michael Jackson's burial was delayed for three months because Janet wanted her $40,000 deposit back before the burial happened. Janet now wants to sue Vanity Fair magazine for running an excerpt from the book talking about her. Janet feels the executors behind the Michael Jackson estate are on a campaign to destroy her name.

Apollo Live is the Centric network's singing reality show, and it kicks off Saturday, December 1^st. Comedian Tony Rock will be hosting and the judges include Gladys Knight, Michael Bivins, and Doug E Fresh.

Speaking of The Empress Of Soul, Gladys Knight is also part of the ensemble for one of the two sitcoms being produced by comedian Byron Allen. The sitcom The First Family is about an African American First Family in the White House. Christopher B. Duncan (The Jamie Foxx Show) and
Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show) play the President and First Lady. Also starring are Gladys Knight, Marla Gibbs, Jackee Harry and John Witherspoon. The second Allen-produced show is Mr. Box Office
with Bill Bellamy, Vivica A. Fox, Jon Lovitz and Keshia Knight Pulliam. Bellamy plays an A-List movie star who is sentenced to community service teaching at an underprivileged high school. The First Family and Mr. Box Office both air weekends in syndication. Vivica A. Fox is also starring on the show Prank My Mom, which airs Tuesday nights at 10pm on Lifetime.

What is going on with Martin Lawrence? The popular comedian and actor has been in hiding. He is going through a divorce and looking for ways to revive his career. His TV pilot for CBS fell through, and he has been dealing with depression. Martin can’t believe his career has come to this. In the 90’s, he was on top with his Martin TV show and hit movies like Bad Boys with Will Smith. Martin's friends are worried about him and are wondering how they can help. Jamie Foxx has reached out to Martin to help him. Foxx wants him for a movie project.

Speaking of Jamie Foxx, he returns to the big screen this December in the Quentin Tarantino’s film Django. The movie, about a former slave turned bounty hunter trying to rescue his wife from slavery, also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington. Foxx has also signed on for the movie White House Down with Channing Tatum. Foxx will play the President Of The United States, who is taken hostage in the White House. Foxx recently revealed plans to do a comedy movie for fellow Comedian Kevin Hart.

Did The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin have surgery to lose weight? Franklin, 70, looks great. Sources say The Queen had lap band surgery and she underwent a breast reduction.

Jill Scott has been added to the cast of David E. Talbert's film Baggage Claim. Paula Patton stars in the movie about a flight attendant who has 30 days and 30,000 miles to find a husband. Derek Luke and Octavia Spencer are also part of the cast. Millions tuned into the check out Scott and Queen Latifah in the Lifetime movie remake of Steel Magnolias, which re-airs Saturday, October 13^th.

Cedric The Entertainer will be hosting the Soul Train Awards, which will air on the BET and Centric networks on Sunday, November 25^th. New Edition is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award. R Kelly has been nominated for Album Of The Year, and he's also up for the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter Of The Year Award. Other nominees include Usher, Estelle and John Legend.

Michael Winans, Jr. may be headed to jail. The young son of Michael Winans, Sr. and grandson of David “Pop” Winans and Delores “Mom” Winans has pleaded guilty for his role in a Ponzi scheme Winans, Jr. faces up to 30 years in jail. Sentencing takes place February 27^th.

On November 16^th, Spike TV is doing a tribute special to Eddie Murphy celebrating his 30-year career. Eddie Murphy: One Night Only will feature his work in film, musical performances and sketch comedy.

TV One's popular UnSung documentary series returns in January for a sixth season. I love this show. Their newest profiles will include The Whispers, Lou Rawls,  Eddie Kendricks and Isaac Hayes, just to name a few.

Paula Abdul is coming to Dancing With The Stars. She is going to be a guest judge on the show October 15^th.

Pilar Sanders is now living in a hotel with her kids. The ex-wife of Football Star Deion Sanders is still involved in a bitter dispute with her ex, even though she is getting over $10,000 a month in child
support. Pilar's gas and electricity were cut off for non-payment forcing her to move to the hotel. Looks like she may bring Deion back to court to cover those expenses too.

At the movies, it's Middle Of Nowhere from Writer/Director Ava DuVernay. The film stars Lorraine Toussaint (Law & Order), Dondre Whitfield (The Cosby Show), Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue), and Omari Hardwick (Sparkle, For Colored Girls), and follows a wife's journey of self discovery after her husband is sentenced to eight years in prison.

On November 9^th, it’s the movie LUV. The film stars Common, Megan Good, Charles Dutton and Dennis Haysbert.

The American Music Awards air November 18^th on ABC.

We remember Alex Karras. The football great died at the age of 77 from kidney failure and dementia. Karras had a 13-year career in the NFL playing for the Detroit Lions. He later went onto a stint as an analyst on ABC's Monday Night Football followed by acting. He's best known for his role as “Mongo” in Mel Brooks' legendary film comedy Blazing Saddles and as “George,” Emmanuel Lewis' guardian in the hit TV sitcom Webster that co-starred his wife, Actress Susan Clark.

Dr. Conrad Murray is afraid he will die in jail. Murray says he has blood clots and the condition may kill him. Murray was the late Michael Jackson's doctor. Murray was found criminally responsible for the death of Jackson and was sentenced to a four-year jail term.

Look for R Kelly and Tamia on tour together. Kelly says his next CD, Black Panties, is coming out next year. Tamia's new CD is called Beautiful Surprise, which is also the name of her latest hit single.

Beyonce has pulled out of the movie project A Star Is Born. The Clint Eastwood project is now on hold again. This would have been the fourth time around for this film. The original came out in 1937 with Fredric March and Janet Gaynor. The first remake appeared in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason followed in 1976 by the Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson version. New mom Beyonce says her schedule is too busy right now.

In more Beyonce news, Get ready for the greatest hits of Destiny's Child. The group, which consisted of Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and Beyonce before separating for solo careers, is celebrating their 15^th anniversary. Greatest Hits arrives in stores October 15^th.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are on the cover of the latest edition of Ebony magazine.

Tyler Perry is on the cover of the latest issue of Essence magazine and his new movie, the detective thriller Alex Cross, opens in theatres October 19^th. His latest Madea movie, Madea's Witness Protection, comes out on DVD on the 23^rd. Perry recently announced a new partnership with Oprah Winfrey and her OWN cable network. Perry will be producing scripted shows on Winfrey's network. All of his new shows will be on the OWN while his previous shows (Meet The Browns, House Of Payne and For Better Or Worse) will remain on the TBS cable network. Perry was considering
starting his own network, but he decided in the end it was easier to team with Oprah and her network. The Mighty O has been busy. She has been filming the Lee Daniels' movie The Butler. That film is about Eugene Allen, a man who was a service worker at The White House for eight presidents. The movie also stars Forest Whitaker, Robin Williams, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Jane Fonda. Winfrey also shares the cover of Forbes magazine with fellow Billionaires Warren Buffett and Bill Gates for The 400 Richest People In America issue. The Mighty O cracked Forbes top 200 as a media mogul.

Denzel Washington graces the latest edition of GQ magazine. Washington has two big projects on the horizon. His movie Flight, with Don Cheadle and John Goodman, opens in theatres in early November. Washington's second film is 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg comes out next year. In a recent interview, Singer Al Green says if a movie were to be made about his life, he would love for Washington to play him on the big screen.

Sunny Anderson is back with a new show on the Food network. Homemade In America airs Saturday Mornings at 9:30am on the Food network.

Will the third time be the charm? The late Donna Summer has been nominated for a third time into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Summer died from lung cancer in May at the age of 63. Other nominees include Public Enemy, NWA, The Marvelettes, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Heart. The awards ceremony takes place April 8^th. Inductees will be announced in December.

Gabrielle Union's new show, Being Mary Jane, debuts next February on BET.

Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins from the music group TLC is getting her own reality show. The show, Totally T-Boz, will air, ironically enough, on the TLC network and debuts next year. The 42-year old single mom is trying to jump start her career after having a brain tumor removed. Filming is happening in Atlanta and will feature her daughter and her brother.

Singer Kem is getting ready for the holidays. He has a new CD, What Christmas Means, coming out in October.

Singer Anita Baker is back. Her CD, Only Forever, is coming out this fall featuring the first single Lately, a cover of the Tyrese song.

Whoopi Goldberg is doing a guest turn on the new ABC show 666 Park Avenue. Goldberg will join regular cast member Vanessa Williams on the supernatural drama in December.

Bow Wow has been named one of the new hosts of BET’s 106 & Park. Bow Wow will be joining new comers Paigion, Shorty Da Prince and Miss Mykie.

Get ready for Black Girls Rock. This year's honorees include Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, Susan L. Taylor and Dionne Warwick. The show airs Sunday, November 4^th on BET. Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King are returning as hosts. Performers include Brandy and Keyshia Cole.

NeNe Leakes is on a roll. The new season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta kicks off Sunday, November 4^th. She is also one of the stars of the NBC show The New Normal, and she
is featured with that show's cast in the latest issue of Vogue.

Tina and her sister Erica , a.k.a. Mary Mary, will return December 13^th to the WE network for their reality series Mary Mary.

Will Nicki Minaj last as a judge on American Idol? Producers of the show are already tired of her Diva antics. Now that she cussed out fellow Judge Mariah Carey during the North Carolina auditions, producers are just about fed up. Minaj and Carey have downplayed rumors of unrest between the two. But, after video came out showing Minaj and Carey going at it, it's clear the two are not getting along. The American Idol crew is not feeling Minaj either with her lateness and Diva Antics. The crew feel she is not worth it. Minaj is starting to look like a fool. Carey is getting paid $18 million for this gig. By acting a fool before the season starts in January, Minaj could hurt her career.

Can Bobbi Kris handle her money? According to grandmom Cissy Houston, she can’t. Bobbi Kris was the sole beneficiary of her mother Whitney Houston's fortune, but Cissy feels that Bobbi Kris is under negative influences. Since her mother's death, Bobbi Kris has been close to her play brother Nick Gordon, who is now her boyfriend. Cissy has asked a judge to put Bobbi Kris’s money in a trust fund. Apparently, Cissy wants the money to last Bobbi Kris for her long-term financial security.

Former Football Star Michael Strahan wants to downplay any strife in his private life now that he has taken the job as co-host of Live With Kelly And Michael. Their combined families are very close. Despite the fact that he lives on the east coast during the week and she lives on the west coast, they are committed to each other. Usher says the days of freeloading are over. Usher wants his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, to leave their Georgia home. He has given her 60 days notice to get out of his home so he can sell the property. Foster has had no income since her divorce from Usher, and she has been dependent on him since their split. This has been a rough year for Foster. In addition  to losing custody of her sons to Usher, her 11-year old son, Kile Glover, was killed in a tragic jet ski accident.

Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez (TV entertainment show Extra) have been named the new hosts of Simon Cowell's talent show The X-Factor. They'll make their debut in November.

We remember Singer Joe Little of The Rude Boys. In the 90’s, The Rude Boys topped the charts with the song Written All Over Your Face, which was produced by their mentor, the late Gerald Levert. Little, a Cleveland, Ohio native, died at the age of 44 after being hospitalized for severe cramping.

Singer John Legend has postponed his fall tour. Legend says he has to finish work on his latest album, which is coming out next year.

The ESPN network is known for their excellent documentaries, and their latest is no exception. 30 For 30: Broke highlights sports athletes who have blown their fortunes. In one segment, they feature former Boston Celtic Player Antoine Walker. He blew $110 million in a two-year span. He says he blew the money on women and toys. He also says bad real estate deals did him in on top of spending over $2 million on friends.

She and Hackford are still talking about Halle Berry, Hudson and Broadway Star Audra McDonald as contenders to play the music legend.

Happy anniversary to Singer Chaka Khan. Khan is celebrating 40 years in the music business. The 60-year old icon is planning on releasing a new album plus go on tour. She is also coming out with a line of

Smokey Robinson is lending his voice to a new clean water campaign part of his Smoke Alarm charity work. The late Sherman Hemsley's embalmed body is still being refrigerated in El Paso, Texas as a court is reviewing a claim against his estate. On one side is Flora Enchinton who is named as sole beneficiary of the estate worth over $50,000 in a will signed weeks before Hemsley's death. Enchinton says she's been the late actor's friend and manager for more than two decades. On the other side is Robert Thornton of Philadelphia. Thornton claims to be Hemsley's brother, and he says the will isn't authentic. A Texas court has ordered Thornton to take a DNA test by October so a hearing can take place. The 74-year old Hemsley was best known for having two successful sitcoms in a row playing “George Jefferson” in The Jeffersons (1975-1985) and “Deacon Ernest Frye” in Amen (1986-1991). The actor died in July of lung cancer.

The three-year romance between Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy is over. Strahan, the former football star, is now co-hosting Live with Kelly and Michael. Strahan was tapped as the permanent co-host with Kelly Ripa after Regis Philbin left the show. Strahan had been dating Nicole, the ex-wife of Eddie Murphy, for three years. The two seemed so in love, and they blended their families well. However the pair did have their drama. A couple of years ago, Strahan caught Murphy cheating on him. He put a tracking device in her car, and it led him right to her and her other lover. In their most recent dispute, Strahan came across some suggestive text messages from another man. During the week, Strahan lives in New York while Murphy resides in LA. They have both accused each other of cheating, and Strahan declared he needed a break. Murphy, who is featured on the VHI reality show Hollywood Exes, is said to be heartbroken.

Get ready for the Whitney Houston tributes this fall. First up, the 18-track tribute album, I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston, comes out November 13^th.  The coffee table book, Whitney: Tribute To An Icon, comes out November 27^th. The Lifetime network presents their TV special remembering Whitney Houston, which will feature home videos and interviews with mom Cissy Houston, brother Gary, daughter Bobbi Kris and sister-in-law Pat Houston. On October 24^th, the Houston's reality show, On Our Own, debuts on Lifetime. In other Houston news, daughter Bobbi Kris was involved in a car accident with her play brother/lover Nick Gordon. Apparently, the two were arguing and the entire front end of the car was ruined. Word has it they drove the damaged car back to their apartment. Will this be included in the new reality show?

In addition to her hosting duties on American Idol, look for Nicki Minaj to get her own reality show on the E network.

Kerry Washington and Columbus Short return to ABC-TV. They star in the second season of the Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal airing Thursdays at 10pm.

Singer Usher has postponed his European tour in support of his album, Looking 4 Myself, to spend more time with his two sons. Earlier this summer, Usher won custody of his two boys by his ex-wife Tameka Foster. Afterward, Usher gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey on Next Chapter, and Foster soon followed with an interview to Entertainment Tonight. Foster denied being a golddigger and says she forgives her bridesmaid who had an affair with Usher. Foster also spoke of the death of her 11-year old son, Kile Glover, who died from injuries he suffered after being involved in a tragic jet ski accident. Foster's recent appeal of the custody decision got rejected by a judge.

Get ready for the greatest hits of Destiny's Child. The group, which consisted of Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and Beyonce before separating for solo careers, is celebrating their 15^th anniversary. Greatest Hits arrives in stores October 15^th.

Jennifer Hudson says she would like to portray The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin if a bio-pic were to be made. Franklin has been working hard to make the project happen. The Queen says she's working with Producer/Director Taylor Hackford (Ray, Dreamgirls) on a story treatment so the project can move to the script phase. She and Hackford are still talking about Halle Berry, Hudson and Broadway Star Audra McDonald as contenders to play the music legend.

Chad says it’s time to Get Chad Together. Chad Ochocinco Johnson says he takes full responsibility for his actions. He lost his wife, his NFL job and his reality show after his domestic violence incident with ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. Their divorce became final last week. Johnson will not serve time in jail and he will enroll in anger management classes.

The Martins are having problems.......... as in Duane Martin and his wife Tisha Campbell-Martin. The Martins are being sued by a bank regarding a loan they took out on their home for $430,000. Apparently, they took out a home equity loan in 2008 while another home went into foreclosure.

Happy anniversary to Singer Chaka Khan. Khan is celebrating 40 years in the music business. The 60-year old icon is planning on releasing a new album plus go on tour. She is also coming out with a line of chocolates and a new fragrance line.

Where is Papa Joe? Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson has a new love, and she is 51 years younger than he is. The young Indian woman is 33-years old and rich. According to published reports, Jackson is smitten with his new love, and that’s why he has been quiet during the recent family scandal. Papa Joe loves money, and he goes where the money is. Joe Jackson has never been true to Katherine Jackson. He even had children with other women in 1972 and 1974.

NeNe Leakes is on a roll. The new season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta kicks off Sunday, November 4^th. She is also one of the stars of the NBC show The New Normal, and she is featured with that show's cast in the latest issue of Vogue.

Two people accused of blackmailing Stevie Wonder are now out of jail. After pleading no contest, Alpha Walker and Tamara Diaz have been ordered to stay away from the Motown legend and his family. The pair were trying to extort $5 million from Wonder claiming they were going to sell false information about him if he didn’t cough up the money.

Get ready for The Real Husbands Of Hollywood in 2013. The new BET show stars Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke, Boris Kodjoe, Anthony Anderson, JB Smoove and Duane Martin. Now speaking of Anthony Anderson, check him out on his NBC show Guys With Kids. He stars along with Tempest Bledsoe from The Cosby Show. Guys With Kids is produced by Late Night Host and Comedian Jimmy Fallon.

Congratulations to Singer Diana Ross because she is a grandmom again. The Boss’ daughter Chudney and her boyfriend Josh Faulkner welcomed their first child, a daughter, Callaway Lane.

At the movies this week, Actress Viola Davis stars in Won’t Back Down.

Smokey Robinson is lending his voice to a new clean water campaign part of his Smoke Alarm charity work. He’s teamed up with Proctor & Gamble and his celebrity friends with a new water purification packet he’s promoting with through twitter and facebook. Robinson, known as The Mayor Of Motown, wants to bring clean drinking water to impoverished areas worldwide.

Cedric The Entertainer will be hosting the Soul Train Awards, which will air on the BET and Centric networks on Sunday, November 25^th. New Edition is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award. R Kelly has been nominated for Album Of The Year, and he's also up for the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter Of The Year Award. Other nominees include Usher, Estelle and John Legend.

This is not a good time for Singer Lauryn Hill. Hill faces a three-year jail term for not paying her taxes. Sentencing takes place in late November. The mother of six is also facing criticism from her exes. For years, Hill carried on an affair with Fugees Founder Wyclef Jean, and in his new book, Purpose, Jean claimed he thought he was the father of Hill's first child. He felt betrayed when he realized he wasn’t the dad, and says that's what ended their union with the Fugees. In a recent interview, Rohan Marley the father of five of Hill's children says Wyclef Jean is a liar, and knew the child wasn’t his. Marley says Jean is just talking to sell books.

Deion Sanders says he wants his child support payments reduced. Sanders is going through a nasty divorce with his wife Pilar. Sanders, the TV personality and former NFL star, is worth $250 million. He feels $10,000 a month is too much to pay in child support.

The late Sherman Hemsley's embalmed body is still being refrigerated in El Paso, Texas as a court is reviewing a claim against his estate. On one side is Flora Enchinton who is named as sole beneficiary of the estate worth over $50,000 in a will signed weeks before Hemsley's death. Enchinton says she's been the late actor's friend and manager for more than two decades. On the other side is Robert Thornton of Philadelphia. Thornton claims to be Hemsley's brother, and he says the will isn't authentic. A Texas court has ordered Thornton to take a DNA test by October so a hearing can take place. The 74-year old Hemsley was best known for having two successful sitcoms in a row playing “George Jefferson” in The Jeffersons (1975-1985) and “Deacon Ernest Frye” in Amen (1986-1991). The actor died in July of lung cancer.

Denzel Washington graces the latest edition of GQ magazine. Washington has two big projects on the horizon. His movie Flight, with Don Cheadle and John Goodman, opens in theatres in early November. Washington's second film is 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg comes out next year. In a recent interview, Singer Al Green says if a movie were to be made about his life, he would love for Washington to play him on the big screen.

Oprah Winfrey shares the cover of Forbes magazine with fellow Billionaires Warren Buffett and Bill Gates for The 400 Richest People In America issue. The Mighty O cracked Forbes top 200 as a media mogul.

Essence Cover Girl Jill Scott has a new TV movie coming to Lifetime. It's a remake of the 1989 movie Steel Magnolias. Scott stars along with Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard and Phylicia Rashad. The movie airs on Lifetime October 7^th. Also that weekend on the Lifetime network, Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd star in the movie The Carlina White Story. The movie about the kidnapping of a baby in New York in the 80’s. That story made headlines around the world as years later the baby would grow up and learn the truth. The movie airs Saturday, the 6^th at 8pm and Sunday the 7^th at 7pm on Lifetime.

In more magazine reading, Actress Gabrielle Union is on the cover of this month’s Ebony magazine. Her new BET show is called Being Mary Jane. On the show, Union plays a news anchor balancing career and her personal life while looking for Mr. Right. Being Mary Jane is produced by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the husband and wife team behind The Game.

Singer Keyshia Cole is the cover girl for the latest edition of Hype magazine.

Former BET Head and Founder Bob Johnson and Tracey Edmonds are joining forces for a faith-based YOUTUBE channel called Alright TV. The channel will showcase trendy topics, self help and entertainment.

TD Jakes is coming to BET. Bishop Jakes will be doing an inspirational show called TD Jakes Presents debuting in 2013. Meanwhile, Bishop Jakes' latest movie Woman Thou Art Loosed: The 7^th Day is out on DVD. The movie stars Blair Underwood and Sharon Leal.

Former CNN News Anchor TJ Holmes has a new late night talk show debuting on BET. The show Don’t Sleep debuts October 1^st at 11pm.

Major changes are coming to the CBS soap opera The Young And The Restless. Debbie Morgan is out! For years, she played “Angie” on ABC's All My Children and then joined Y&R. Genie Francis, who joined from ABC's General Hospital, is also leaving. Actor James Avery, who played “Uncle Phil” on The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, is joining Y&R, and Actor  Eric Braeden, who plays “Victor Newman,” just signed a new long-term contract.

The BET Hip Hop Awards air on Tuesday, October 9^th on BET. Mike Epps will be hosting. Kanye West leads the pack with 17 nominations. Legendary MC Rakim from Eric B & Rakim is getting a special award that night.

NBC’s Saturday Night Live returned for its 38^th season with some shakeups. The role of President Barack Obama is now being played by African American Comedian/Castmember Jay Pharoah. The role was previously played by non African American Castmember Fred Armisen. The show took a lot of criticism for that, and apparently it was finally heard. In more SNL shakeups  Castmember Keenan Thompson, who has been with the show for years, is now playing a larger role on the show, including his impressions of Charles Barkley and Bill Cosby.

Apollo Live is the Centric network's singing reality show, and it kicks off Saturday, December 1^st. Comedian Tony Rock will be hosting and the judges include Gladys Knight, Michael Bivins, and Doug E Fresh.

Speaking of The Empress Of Soul, Gladys Knight is also part of the ensemble for one of the two sitcoms being produced by comedian Byron Allen. The sitcom The First Family is about an African American First Family in the White House. Christopher B. Duncan (The Jamie Foxx Show) and Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show) play the President and First Lady. Also starring are Gladys Knight, Marla Gibbs, Jackee Harry and John Witherspoon. The second Allen-produced show is Mr. Box Office with Bill Bellamy, Vivica A. Fox, Jon Lovitz and Keshia Knight Pulliam. Bellamy plays an A-List movie star who is sentenced to community service teaching at an underprivileged high school. The First Family and Mr. Box Office both air on CW and MYnetwork stations on weekends.

Speaking of Vivica Fox, she has a second show coming to the Lifetime network. Prank My Mom premieres October 9^th at 10pm.

Vivian Green has a new CD Green Room coming out October 9^th. She will be in concert October 7^th with Mint Condition at the Keswick Theatre.

Tamar Braxton is planning to release a new album. Her first music venture in 12 years. Tamar has been the breakout star of the Braxton sisters. Her new reality show Tamar And Vince, with her promoter-husband, airs Thursdays at 10pm right after Braxton Family Values on the WE network.

On November 16^th, Spike TV is doing a tribute special to Eddie Murphy celebrating his 30-year career. Eddie Murphy: One Night Only will feature his work in film, musical performances and sketch comedy.  

Tyler Perry returns to the big screen October 19^th in the movie Alex Cross. Perry recently canceled the second leg of his stage play Madea Gets A Job due to unauthorized promoters with fake tickets and fake cast events. The bootlegging affecting so many aspects of the play, that Perry choose to ax the tour out of respect for his fans.

Look for R Kelly and Tamia on tour together. Kelly says his next CD, Black Panties, is coming out next year. Tamia's new CD is called Beautiful Surprise, which is also the name of her latest hit single.

It’s a new baby boy and a second season for Mary Mary. Tina Campbell recently gave birth to her son Santana. Tina and her sister Erica will return December 13th to the WE network for their reality series Mary Mary.

Singer Kem is getting ready for the holidays. He has a new CD, What Christmas Means, coming out in October.

Singer Anita Baker is back. Her CD, Only Forever, is coming out this fall featuring the first single Lately, a cover of the Tyrese song.

Jamie Foxx returns to the big screen this December in the Quentin Tarantino’s film Django. The movie, about a former slave turned bounty hunter trying to rescue his wife from slavery, also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington. Foxx has also signed on for the movie White House Down with Channing Tatum. Foxx will play the President Of The United States, who is taken hostage in the White House.

Get ready for All The King’s Men. It’s a new tour with Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Israel Houghton.
